Blog Sausage Sizzle Header Image

Many thanks to everyone who volunteered on 21 February for our second Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings, Stafford. The total sales were $838.05 and the profit was $531.85.

Our fundraising is dedicated towards the Get Growing Program with the aim of getting them to put on a course to benefit scholars at Everton Park State High School.

Aside from the funds raised, there are lots of other benefits to be gained for the NOW group and its members from participating in these days when serve the community

The next Bunnings date is on the 22nd March and this is the only other thing we have locked- in at this stage. We are doing something at the annual Madeleine Hicks Easter Egg Hunt as well as a organising a social event in the next two months but thethe details are not finalised. We will also have 3 more Sausage Sizzle dates at Bunnings to announce shortly shortly.

Our first sausage sizzle at Bunnings Stafford was a great success with fundraising committee member Terry Harrison reporting that the volunteers on the day sold about 425 sausages and 145 drinks. The profit was $634.10 that will go to our chosen charity. We had some stock left over to use next time so the the profits should be even higher.

Some of the volunteers helping out at the firsr sausage sizzle were, from left, Trev Sims, Geoff Dyer, Terry Harrison, Jack Pool, Jenny Marsden and Margaret Sims.

We look forwarding to welcoming one and all to our 2019 meetings. Members will receive booking details closer to each meeting and prospective visitors can use our Contact Form to join the mailing list.

NOW Christmas Party 2018 image

The NOW membership gathered for the annual Christmas Party at Smokin’ Joe’s on December 7. Among those present were many community notables including Santa Claus [who had forgotten to bring us any presents] and the Easter Bunny in disguise.

We all had a great time helped along by Joe’s delicious pizzas and a selection of inviting fluid supplements. Many of us were Smokin’ Joe’s virgins before the party but we all agreed it was a great spot to dine and that we’d be back.

NOW Presents Christmas Hampers image

Our fundraising efforts in 2018 resulted in major donations to Mylestones (formerly Cerebral Palsy League) and the Stafford branch of Meals on Wheels. Since then we became aware of a need in our community and the membership decided at the November meeting to fund five Christmas hampers to be distributed to families in need. We are pleased to report the hampers were delivered  earlier today.

We can make a difference and next year we intend to do even more.

NOW Business Network Board Strategy Session image

The NOW Board and a number of co-opted members had a very fruitful meeting (including fruit toast, funnily enough) earlier this morning to discuss our future direction and to refine exactly what it is we stand for. After much discussion the meeting agreed on the wording for NOW’s purpose and a bullet list of six core values that encapsulate all we believe in. These will start appearing in our various publication including a booklet we will be producing for new members. Read more
