We are grateful to have such loving charities like Backpack Bed to complete the hard work in helping out Brisbane’s Homeless Community.

Thank you to all who came to test their knowledge at our Trivia Night! Those questions were tough, but we raised $2350 for each of our charities devoted to helping Brisbane’s homeless community – Orange Sky, 3rd Space, Backpack Beds and Dig In. If you purchased a raffle ticket, you contributed to that!

Thank you to Dave (Manager), Ella and Carol from Drakes McDowall for all of your donations and assistance with helping the community! Thank you Sonia Partlett from NOW Business Network for all of your coordination behind the scenes.

A few weeks ago, we gave a $1000 donation to Mel from A Brave Life, as a thank you for always being there as one of our charities!

A Brave Life equips and empowers young mothers facing a broad range of challenges such as domestic violence, poverty, trauma, relationship or family breakdown, unplanned pregnancy and homelessness.

Their goal is to not change these women’s pasts, but to implement their early interventions which enable young mums to forge a better future for themselves and their babies.

The event was a success!

Thank you to all who came, the sponsors and supporters!

Great morning Speed Networking.

Welcome to our new members and guests

The exciting news:
I have recently been selected to star in a ground-breaking TV show in 2021 called ‘Adventure All-Stars.’ Produced by the internationally acclaimed Charity TV Global, this media project combines adventure, travel and philanthropy, and will be broadcast not only across Channel 7 but also to over 45 million homes worldwide, in 24 countries.
My reason for taking part?
To raise $10K over the next 10 months for Project Karma, an Australian registered charity who rescue children out of exploitive environments and seek justice against trafficking networks.
What I’ll be doing:
To raise these desperately needed funds and help keep more children safe from a life of sexual exploitation, I have signed up to be a cast member on Adventure All-Stars, where I will be flown to a secret location for six days of high-intensity action and adventure. If you’ve seen previous seasons of Adventure All-Stars, you’ll have seen contestants doing everything from white water rafting, to bungee jumping, and everything in between. As a very NON-ADVENTUROUS person, this is as far from my comfort zone as I can get! I won’t know until I arrive, where I’m going or what I’m doing, and even though this is truly terrifying for me, I’m willing to put myself out there to help save more children from trafficking.
On top of this, I will also be completing a 30km walk from New Farm to Redcliffe, prior to filming.
How people can support me:
To raise my fundraising goal, I am looking for several local businesses who would like to partner with me as a corporate sponsor. In exchange for corporate support, businesses who make a donation of $1000 – 5000 will receive a host of sponsorship bonuses, including having their logo featured on all cast member’s t-shirts, and broadcast to 45 million people around the world.
I’d love to speak further with any local businesses who may be interested in supporting me, and in exchange, having their brand featured globally. For more information, I have attached the sponsorship guide as well as confirmation of my involvement. A link to my fundraiser can also be found here.

Special Alert – JobKeeper update

Casual employees and primary employer

The ATO has released guidance that a casual employee will not be eligible for the JobKeeper payment if they are employed on a permanent basis for another employer.

We have updated the FAQ with this information. The FAQ can be found here.

The JobKeeper process – Important Dates

The First Month (30 March 2020 – 26 April 2020)

Step One: If it hasn’t already, the employer should register its’ interest and subscribe for JobKeeper payment updates here.

Step Two: Check that the employer meets the eligibility requirements here.

Step Three: Check your employees meet the eligibility requirements here.

Step Four: Notify your eligible employees that the Club is intending to claim the JobKeeper payment on their behalf and check they aren’t claiming the JobKeeper payment through another employer. You can use this letter – click here.

Step Five: Send the JobKeeper Employee Nomination Notice to your nominated employees – click here. They must return this form to you before 30 April 2020.

Step Six: On 20 April 2020, enrol with the ATO for the JobKeeper payment using the Business Portal and authenticate using the employers myGovID. This must be done by 30 April 2020 at the very latest otherwise the employer will not receive the JobKeeper reimbursement for April 2020. In this form, the employer must:

  • Provide its’ bank details; and
  • Specify the estimated number of employees who will be eligible for the first month of JobKeeper payments (from 30 March – 26 April 2020).

Step Seven: Pay each eligible employee $3000 for the period from 30 March 2020 to 26 April 2020 by 30 April 2020. If payment is not made by this date, then the employer will not receive the JobKeeper reimbursement for April 2020.

Note: Payment can be made weekly ($750 per week) or fortnightly ($1,500 per fortnight).

Step Eight: On 4 May 2020, identify each eligible employee to the ATO through the online form by selecting employee details that are prefilled from your STP pay reports if you report payroll information through an STP enabled payroll solution.

Step Nine: You will receive confirmation of your eligible employees through email or SMS.

Step Ten: The ATO will make payment to the employer for the period from 30 March 2020 to 26 April 2020 provided the above steps have been completed.

Don’t worry if these steps are out of order, as long as you have completed each step by its’ due date.

Step One: Re-confirm that your reported eligible employees have not changed through the Business Portal and provide information as to your current and projected turnover.
