Christmas came early to Everton Park High State School today 🦌🎄🎅🏻 for the NOW Business Network last morning event for the year.
We made up lolly bags for the Kindness carts for the kids and goodie bags for the guests at Beddown, with some fun Christmas yodelling in between 🎵.
Special mention to Sue Wallace for her wonderful contribution to EPSHS as Principal and her ongoing support to the business and community networks – we’ll miss her whilst she’s away having some time off.

Congratulations to The Stafford General Store team on their very well deserved NOW WOW! Award for their outstanding customer service and their genuine commitment to the local community.

Special shout-outs to Roy, Jake (from Super Pharmacy Plus who looks after The Stafford General Store), Harrison, Sarah and Sarah who have all organised many initiatives for the local community.

Their amazing community focus includes:

  • A Friday Mums’ group who meet for coffee while waiting to see the child health nurse at the pharmacy.
  • Providing work experience and barista training for Everton Park State High School students and people returning to work and needing new skills.
  • A community library with books and puzzles for the community to collect.
  • Introducing the ‘Aloha’ initiative and offering a free coffee to customers.
  • Running with NOW Business Network’s Kindness Cart concept in March 2020 and hosting this cart for the community, contributing grocery items from their own tip jar / pockets when the cart runs low.

Well done to you all at The Stafford General Store – wonderful customer and community service!

Congratulations Mary-Ann Strelow on your NOW WOW! Award from the NOW – Business Building Community.
Presented at the recent NOW Business Network meeting for:
“Recognition of your outstanding kindness and commitment to so many individuals, organisations, and not-for-profit groups in the community.
You have an exceptional radar for those in need and a creative mind for finding ways to help others that leave them feeling valued and supported. There are too many examples of your spontaneous generosity and kindness to list and there are probably many examples that we will never know about because of all the additional acts of generosity you carry out with exceptional stealth!”
The WOW! Awards is a wonderful recognition program that catches people doing things right and recognises them for their outstanding community support and customer service.
Well done Mary-Ann, very deserved recognition for all you do for everyone around you. Thank you!

Our thoughts are with you in lockdown. For many of us, lockdown isn’t an easy time. Between the practical and psychological challenges, we can suddenly find ourselves on a slippery slope to struggling. While we’re hoping we’re on top of this outbreak quickly, you might like to check out some tips from Donna Thistlethwaite for staying mentally healthy during lockdown. The content is also available in an instantly accessible webinar recorded in 2020 (linked in article). Take care and stay well.

Donna is happy to chat with anyone who is doing it tough at the moment on 0419 120 601 – offering a listening ear, support and referrals. No fee applies.

Stay safe everyone!

In light of the current COVID 19 circumstances in Queensland, unfortunately this event has now been cancelled. We encourage everyone to follow all safety measures and stay safe.

We are pleased to support the amazing Jay Larkins from Brisbane Paralympic Football Program.

You are making a massive difference, Jay – many thanks to you and your team.

The exciting news:
I have recently been selected to star in a ground-breaking TV show in 2021 called ‘Adventure All-Stars.’ Produced by the internationally acclaimed Charity TV Global, this media project combines adventure, travel and philanthropy, and will be broadcast not only across Channel 7 but also to over 45 million homes worldwide, in 24 countries.
My reason for taking part?
To raise $10K over the next 10 months for Project Karma, an Australian registered charity who rescue children out of exploitive environments and seek justice against trafficking networks.
What I’ll be doing:
To raise these desperately needed funds and help keep more children safe from a life of sexual exploitation, I have signed up to be a cast member on Adventure All-Stars, where I will be flown to a secret location for six days of high-intensity action and adventure. If you’ve seen previous seasons of Adventure All-Stars, you’ll have seen contestants doing everything from white water rafting, to bungee jumping, and everything in between. As a very NON-ADVENTUROUS person, this is as far from my comfort zone as I can get! I won’t know until I arrive, where I’m going or what I’m doing, and even though this is truly terrifying for me, I’m willing to put myself out there to help save more children from trafficking.
On top of this, I will also be completing a 30km walk from New Farm to Redcliffe, prior to filming.
How people can support me:
To raise my fundraising goal, I am looking for several local businesses who would like to partner with me as a corporate sponsor. In exchange for corporate support, businesses who make a donation of $1000 – 5000 will receive a host of sponsorship bonuses, including having their logo featured on all cast member’s t-shirts, and broadcast to 45 million people around the world.
I’d love to speak further with any local businesses who may be interested in supporting me, and in exchange, having their brand featured globally. For more information, I have attached the sponsorship guide as well as confirmation of my involvement. A link to my fundraiser can also be found here.
